Some real property used for certain purposes is exempt from paying real estate taxes. Exemptions are often allowed under the Illinois Constitution for properties that are used exclusively for agricultural/horticultural societies, or religious, charitable, cemetery, and school purposes. These exemptions are sometimes referred to as “non-homestead exemptions.” Amari & Locallo has extensive experience representing property owners in matters related to these types of real estate tax exemptions.
